About R8 Revolver Skins
History
The R8 Revolver was added to CSGO on 8 December 2015 as part of the Winter 2015 update. The first skins to be added were the Amber Fade, Bone Mask, Crimson Web and Fade.
Upon initial release the R8 Revolver was grossly over-powered and referred to as the "Pocket AWP", due to its ability to one-shot kill armoured players at long range.
Valve originally intended to collect data on its performance over the course of weeks, but the huge negative reaction from both the CSGO community and various eSports leagues (some of which also banned the weapon from competitive matches) prompted Valve to release an update titled "Damage Control" to reduce the weapon damage and accuracy two days later on 10 December 2015.
